Instant Pot Coney Sauce
I’m still trying to get used to this whole blog sharing thing. I love writing here and sharing projects and recipes, but I don’t know what else to share. Some days I think about sharing what’s on my mind, like a journal, but I don’t have pretty pictures to follow up with. I only have a couple for today’s post, but here it goes anyway! Last week we had everyone over to cook out. All five grandkids is a lot to feed, so hotdogs were definitely on the list. I decided to make some yummy CONEY SAUCE and it was a total hit with the kiddos! I used my instant Pot which took about 20 minutes start to finish.
I started with setting my instant pot on the sauté mode and browning the hamburger and onion together. I probably added some salt and pepper too, because that’s just who I am. When the meat was done, I added all my remaining ingredients and stirred well. I put the lid on my pot, set to sealing and on manual for 7 minutes. It had the house instantly smelling divine. When it was finished, I did a quick release and used my blender to purée the sauce to the desired consistency. So easy y’all, and so good!
This sauce has great flavor, and just enough sweet to make it coney perfection. It would also be good to leave out the sugar and add some pinto beans for a more “chili” dog type. The very best thing about this recipe, besides it’s mouthwatering yumminess, is the versatility. It will save for a couple days in the fridge, or you can bag or box it and freeze it for later use. When you want coneys you just put your frozen sauce in a saucepan and add a little water and let it heat up until hot. Perfect. Every. Time.
One of these days I’ll figure out how to add a printable recipe!
