PEACH COBBLER
Oh I have a delicious share for you my friend! Do you love a warm and gooey peach treat? I’ve been making this peach cobbler for years, it is my very favorite! I’ve also used this same method to make apple and cherry cobbler. This recipe is from one of my very, very favorite cooks, Miss Paula Deen! Here is a link to her original recipe PAULA’S COBBLER.
I love to make this dish just as she directs, by making my own filling. It’s so easy! And you can easily substitute the peaches with apples, cherries, pears, or any fruit you love! Here’s how this baby goes together!
You start with fresh peeled peaches. Place them in a pot and cover with sugar and water. Bring to a boil and allow to cook for 10 minutes. You want them to soften and the liquid to begin thickening. While the peaches are simmering, place a stick of butter in your baking dish and place in a preheated oven to melt.
When the peaches are ready and the butter is melted, grab a bowl and mix your self rising flour with the milk and pour into the baking dish. Do not mix with butter, just gently pour into the dish. Get your peaches and gently spoon them onto the batter, again, don’t mix. Just push around a bit to ensure peaches are all around then pop in the oven to bake. That’s where the magic happens!! When it’s done, remove and sprinkle the top with sugar and cinnamon (this is optional) and serve nice and hot, with ice cream of course!
I hope that if you haven’t already, you will try this Southern Peach Cobbler from Paula Deen! You won’t be disappointed!!
