HOLIDAY ENTERTAINING: HOW TO CREATE A CHARCUTERIE BOARD
Don’t you just love the look of a beautifully displayed charcuterie board? They are beautiful and festive, but they can also be a little intimidating. No need to worry my friends! I have a quick and easy guide to set up that board as easy as 1-2-3!
To create a great snack board, I like to choose 3 sets of snacks that I can put all together on the board for the full effect, but all work separately. For this board, snack set one I chose an assortment of cubed and sliced cheeses and paired them with some summer sausage, this happened to be deer summer sausage and it was a total hit. Snack set two I got a loaf of pretzel bread, if you’ve never had pretzel bread I suggest you find some ASAP, it is delicious, and I added some nacho cheese for dipping. And the third snack set, cajun crab dip with wheat and vegetable crackers.
This combo of snack sets gave me 2 bowls and a loaf of bread to gather all the cheeses, meat, and crackers around. I thought it turned out beautiful, and ya’ll, it was delicious! I hope you will take the leap and try making a charcuterie board, there really are no rules, it’s all fun!
Snack Set One: Jalapneo cheddar cheese cubes, Havarati & Dill cubes, colby jack slices, summer sausage cut into chunks. Make sure to check local markets and deli’s for more options.
Snack Set Two: Pretzel Bread & Nacho Cheese, these were found at the deli/bakery of my local farm market.
Snack Set Three: Cajun Crab Dip and Wheat & Veggie Crackers. Also found at the farm market, I chose two different kinds of crackers to make sure my guests had options.
My completed board cost less that $40 and it kept my guests snacking all day. Here’s a list of other items that can easily be worked into a charcuterie board.
