VALENTINE LOVE BUG COOKIES

I don’t do a lot of elaborate decor or celebrating for Valentine’s Day. When my kids were home, I made most of the celebrations about them, candies and cookies, little toys and stuffed teddies. Hubby and I have just never made a huge deal of it.

Since we’ve been spending our winters in Florida, we don’t see our kids or grandkids during the “love” month, so I haven’t made a habit of celebrating. This year, I decided to make some fun little treats for the sons of some of our friends we’ve made here, and I have to say, they loved these creative treats. I will be sharing the rest next week as we approach the big day, some of these ideas might come in handy to make some fun for the people you love, big or little.

These love bugs are so easy to make. All you have to do is use the microwave to melt the chocolate. Super simple friends!

Love Bug Oreo Cookies & Candy dipped Oreos

Ingredients:

Oreo Cookies

Red chocolate candy melts

Holiday sprinkles

Candy eyes

Melt chocolate per package directions (I use microwave).  Prepare surface with parchment paper.  Dip ¾ of cookie into melted red chocolate.  Place on parchment paper, sprinkle with holiday sprinkles.  Use a toothpick to put melted chocolate in the eye area and put candy eyes in chocolate dots to hold in place.  Allow to cool until set.  Store in airtight container.

**for the candy dipped cookies, use chocolate of desired color, melt and dip cookies then add sprinkles, but no eyes.**

That’s all there is to it! You have a sneak peek of some of the other treats I have coming up, and there is also a kid friendly beverage and an adult beverage that I will be sharing. I hope you enjoyed this post and you can make good use of the “Oreo Cookie Love Bugs”. Have fun preparing for Valentine’s Day, keep it creative!
