NO SEW PILLOW

Do you love an easy to do craft like I do? I have the perfect little pillow for you today! With the changing of the calendar, we find ourselves in October and the arrival of Autumn and the coming of Halloween leaves us searching for fun decor for our homes. This super easy no sew pillow is just the right craft to spruce up your space for the upcoming season. Not too Halloween or spooky, and still pretty to look at. Let’s get into it!

This little pillow is made with muslin fabric, just to let ya’ll know up front, all of these items can be found at Hobby Lobby. Here is a list of the supplies I used (these are not affiliate links)

muslin fabric (tea stained, I will share that process below)

black fabric of choice (for the cat, I chose a floral)

Wonderunder (iron on fabric fusing)

Fiber fill

Floral stem (for the whiskers)

Safety pin

Bell

Ribbon (color of your choice, I used 2 different colors)

Sharpie marker or stamps for creating the “meow” tag (or word of your choice)

Begin by printing the black cat pattern and cutting it out. Click HERE for PDF printable pattern

Iron Wonderunder fusing to the back of the fabric to be used for the cat, be patient, this takes time to get it to stay. Once in place, pin the cat pattern to the fabric and cut out the image. Prepare your musiln fabric in the size you wish your pillow to be. There will be no turning out of the pillow as we are hot gluing the edges together and leaving a rough edge. place the fabric with wrong sides together and put your cat fabric in place. Assure placement then decide where you want the whiskers to be (I did not cut the whiskers into the pattern as its too difficult to cut the fabric that narrow) so, cut your fabric without the whiskers, use the pattern remnants to assure whisker placement. Before ironing the cat in place, attach whiskers with hot glue. Lay the cat in place with wonderunder side down and allow hot glue to attach to the cat. Iron in place avoid going over the area where the glue is under the cat. Assure it is well fused.

I like to begin in the bottom right hand corner to glue the pillow together. I leave a 4-5 inch pocket open in the center bottom for stuffing. glue around all sides and check that there are no holes. Fill pillow with fiber fill and then hot glue the opening shut. How darling is this little pillow! Now add your embelishments. Cut a piece of muslin scrap fabric into the size you desire for your word. Stamp or write word on the fabric with a sharpie marker. Take a safety pin and put a small bell on the pin, followed by 2 pieces of ribbon (my ribbon was about 12 inches, 2 pieces and I folded them in half to make a tassel), add word tag and pin to corner of pillow.

You are done! That’s it. The easiest no sew pillow. I made mine in about 20 minutes, you just can’t beat it. Fun for adults and children! I hope you enjoy this fun and easy craft.

HOW TO TEA STAIN FABRIC

This is a very simple process. I take a spray bottle and put in about 12 ounces of water and 1/2 – 1 cup of instant tea. Shake well and spray fabric. once you have the fabric all grungy looking, toss it into the dryer and let it dry. Thats it! You’re ready to craft when dry. Once you’ve stained your fabric, discard any left over liquid. Don’t keep it, it will go sour and it smells terrible.
