CHRISTMAS TREE FRENZY

I am in a full on frenzy ya’ll! I have been decorating trees since November 1 and I’m still going! I don’t like to drown out Thanksgiving, it is my favorite holiday, but the tree trimming starts early around here. I thought I would take a moment to share with you my Christmas trees.

The living room tree was the first to go up. It’s a King of Christmas (not affiliated) tree and I like it. It’s not my all time favorite, but it is pretty. I wanted a woodland, natural brown and neutral color scheme. Here’s what I did.

I used bead garland from the Hearth and Hand line at Target. It took 4 strands to do this 9 foot tree. I added 2 different ribbons from Hobby Lobby and created a beautiful topper with 2 bundles of sticks & cones from HL and I added the woodland owl for effect. The ribbons cascade down the tree from the topper. The tree is pre-lit, but I did add 1 strand of twinkle lights down the trunk of the tree for that magical twinkle that doesn’t make you feel like you’re going to pass out from dizziness. I got a package of brown tone ornaments at HL and some brown glitter snowflakes. Lastly, I added a few sprigs of dark red berries. The end result, I think it’s beautiful. The tree skirt is from Pottery Barn and matches our stockings.

The entryway has a tree of it’s own as well. My grandson Zane helped me put all the ornaments on this tree. We had so much fun, it is our Homestead Farm tree. It has all sorts of critters on it and the things you would find on a farm. I used ornaments that I’ve collected over the years as well as adding some green, brown, and white balls in shiny, matte, and glitter to fill in the tree and pull the whole look together. The tree skirt is from the Hearth and Hand line at Target. My favorite thing on this tree is the topper, a chicken weather vane that I found at Tractor Supply, I love it!

Let’s move on to the kitchen. Quite possibly my favorite tree in the entire house! I found this beautiful Rose Gold Tinsel tree at WalMart for $59, what a bargain! I wasn’t sure how it would look with all my “kitchen” and “food” themed ornaments, but I love the way it turned out! Now, some may say it’s too crowded to put a tree in the kitchen. Let me say, I cooked Thanksgiving dinner and hosted 10 guests in my small kitchen and the tree was absolutely not in the way, not one bit! It makes the room feel so cozy and warm. My favorite thing on this tree is the colander I added to the top, it’s so fun. I put this tree down inside my large brown basket (that I love) and it is the perfect fit. Look at all my special ornaments. I’ve been collecting these for ages.

In the dining room, I put the baby version of this tree. The 4 foot Rose Gold Tinsel tree from WalMart and ya’ll, that little tree is naked, but it is adorable. It’s just the right fit for the dining room. It is setting down inside one of my ages old Longaberger baskets and I used one of my pretty dish towels for a tree skirt. The chalkboard backdrop is the cherry on top.

I put my 9 foot pencil tree in the guest bedroom. This tree was our living room tree last year, but I love it much more in the smaller space. It is very simply decorated with checked ribbons tied on the limbs and cranberry popcorn faux garland that I got at The Christmas Place in Pigeon Forge, TN. I put a plaid throw on the bed and my sweet little reindeer pillow to make it a complete Christmas look. The tree skirt is an old crochet baby blanket.

The master bedroom Tree is decorated in red, white and gold to match the red and white bedding. There is a whole blog post about this tree that talks all about coordinating a themed tree.

In the sunroom, I put up the very large 9 foot flocked tree. It is prelit, but it is having lighting issues. I have added a couple strands of twinkle lights (for magical effect) but I have a dark section now that I will have to weave some lights into. That’s a hard job to do. This tree is our family tree, and on Thanksgiving my family helped me decorate it with all of our old family ornaments. It is so much fun to go back over the years and look at all the ornaments that were the kids, that were made by the kids and now grandkids and my favorite ornaments, those with pictures of the my family in them. It is so fun to see how they have changed over the years. This tree has a classic Christmas tree feel and it holds so much history and value I just love it. It does take a long time to cover it with ornaments, but that is so much of the fun and sharing all the stories with your loved ones while decorating. I want to continue this tradition of decorating the family tree together.

The library/Office was the last tree I tackled this holiday season. I wanted something old fashioned, and fitting for a library. I found a DIY book page ornament and I knew it would be the perfect fit for that tree. I set the scene with twinkle lights and clip on candle lights, I added the book page ornaments and then finished the look with dried orange slices. The tree had a burlap and bells bow on top from a couple years ago and I left it in place. I finished it off with a crochet lap blanket around the bottom. I love the way it turned out, just as I had envisioned!

I’ll leave you with my little boho tree, this cutie just had to be added in with the fun. I thought it was so cute, but had no idea where I would put it and look, it found it’s perfect home. Don’t forget you can see most of my trees in action on my Instagram page @paisleypearhome

I hope this post inspires you to decorate your home for the holidays and to use themes that are special to you, even if it is a farm implement tree! You can’t go wrong if you just do what makes you feel good and happy inside. Enjoy this holiday season!
