DIY Hand Stamped Books

Hand Stamped Books

Who doesn’t like to make a fun and easy DIY project? I sure do, so today I’m sharing with you my method of making hand stamped books. This project is so easy, and super fun, and the best part, anything goes! You can spruce up any little space in your home with a sweet message, persoanlization or a favorite quote.

You begin the process by heading to a local thrift shop, Goodwill or place where you can pick up used books on the cheap. I use paperback books of various sizes. Once I select my books, I bring them home and prepare them for stamping.

To prepare the books, simply remove the cover. Do this gently and try to get the spine wrap to come off in one piece, if it rips, you will have to scrape off the excess spine cover. Once this is done, you can remove as many top pages as you like to get to a page of words, this is usually just a few pages. You should now have books with no cover and a nice clean spine. (Some crafters choose to cover their spine and top/bottom pages with an art medium such as Gesso, I choose to stamp directly on the paper unless there is an issue with the paper)

Now that you have these beautiful stripped down books, it’s time to get to the fun part, Creating!!! I picked up my stamps, stamp block and ink from my local craft store. It also happened to be half off that week so it was a double score! I use the individual silicone letter stamps which you just line up on you block and then ink it and stamp.

Once you finish stamping your project, you can embellish however you wish! I chose to tie mine with Bakers Twine or Jute. You can add tags or charms or anything that is beautiful to you! I hope you make some stamped books! If you do, please consider uploading to Instagram and tagging me so I can see your creations @paisley_pear. I hope you find this tutorial helpful!

I love this! It’s brilliant, looks easy and fun! I’m just not sure how you stamped? That clear press thing? I’ll reread! Thanks so much.

Thank you so much for your tutorial for this. I have one question. On the spine that says “fresh cut flowers, 25 cents a bundle” how did you stamp your “cent” sign? The alphabet pack that you showed does not have a cent letter on it. I was wondering if I could just use the letter “c” and use a sharpie or something similar and make a small line above and below the letter. Thank you!

That’s exactly what I did. Used the c and a sharpie. 😊 you can also use the c and the slash / Happy crafting!!!
