GIANT CHALKBOARD DIY
Chalkboards are for writing, drawing, communication, sharing quotes and inspiration; I almost feel like no home is complete without a chalkboard. Have you ever priced them? A nice big chalkboard can cost big bucks! So, my hubby and I decided we would build one, then we built a second for our winter home. It’s super easy, beginner level I would say. There is a short list of supplies needed: Smooth brown hardboard panel saw and miter box box knife hammer (manual or power) nails (wire 1/2″ or brads 1/2″) alligator hangers 2 sawtooth picture hangers w/nails chalkboard paint paintbrush and sponge paintbrush yard stick or tape measure corner braces 2…

Because of Love
I never thought I would need anyone’s help to choose a husband. “I can do this all on my own.” I thought. But life isn’t always that simple. I became a mother at the tender age of 17, I married that baby’s dad a year later. We thought it was love, but we had absolutely no idea what we were doing, and life is hard. Relationships are hard, and our personalities just did not mix. We were divorced just 2.5 years we wed. I carried on with my life. I was raising my son, working and enjoying dating and friends. That’s when I met my daughters dad. We married 3…

Celebrating Christmas
Despite all the chaos, our Christmas turned out awesome. I wanted to take a quick moment to talk about holiday food, the meals we serve our guests and what service method do you use? Buffet, family style, served dinner? My family get togethers are pretty big for a Christmas meal, so we do buffet style dining. It works best for allowing folks to eat, browse, graze and go back for more of whatever they like. We have a few different times to share food with loved ones. First up this year, we had Christmas Eve celebrations, when my Aunt, Uncle and cousins join my whole crew (parents, kids, grandkids). This…

Holiday Table Decor
The holiday season is such a wonderful time of the year. Decorating all the places in your home is a great way to celebrate and enjoy everything the season has to offer. Today I’m sharing with you my Christmas tablescape. Red and Green are traditional Christmas colors. My inspiration for this years decor theme is green. My aim this year is a neutral color palette that wasn’t all white, bringing in woodsy elements. The placement of the vintage dough bowl brings warmth to the space, setting atop a green, black, and white plaid runner provides the foundation of the wooded element. In the dough bowl, I began with 3 woodland…

Maskcara Beauty
Ok y’all. This is 199% OUT of my comfort zone. But it is also something I feel passionate about. Places like Instagram, television, Facebook they all tend to show the best and most glamorous of the people portrayed. And that can leave us normal Joes feeling vulnerable and way “less than”. Not every human is born to be drop dead beautiful. We don’t all have the “genes” that it takes to be slim and have amazing skin and hair. Take a long look at the photo on the left. That is me, in natural light and no filter with bare skin. Not a lick of makeup. And on the right,…

HELLO Printables
Hi friends! I just realized I never shared the rest of my free seasons printables. I have completed one for each season, Autumn, Winter, Spring, and Summer. They are free and so fun to spruce up your decor. The images below are J-peg, just click and save image then print on your home printer. You can also send to CVS or a similar photo printer and have it printed on photo paper. My favorite is to use fine linen card stock that you can find at Staples. Have a wonderful day friends!

Instant Pot Coney Sauce
I’m still trying to get used to this whole blog sharing thing. I love writing here and sharing projects and recipes, but I don’t know what else to share. Some days I think about sharing what’s on my mind, like a journal, but I don’t have pretty pictures to follow up with. I only have a couple for today’s post, but here it goes anyway! Last week we had everyone over to cook out. All five grandkids is a lot to feed, so hotdogs were definitely on the list. I decided to make some yummy CONEY SAUCE and it was a total hit with the kiddos! I used my instant…

Crockpot Apple Butter
Do you love to make things from scratch? Like in the good old days, when your Granny or your Momma would spend the afternoon in the kitchen and the entire house would smell of cinnamon and sweet, warm goodness? I sure do! I love to make things that I think will set the tone for my family, for my children and grandchildren, to help them make special memories. One of the best ways to help create a memory is with engaging the senses, taste and smell together and you’ve got a fabulous memory developing! When we make homemade apple butter, it starts with something fun! We make a trip to…

DIY Photo Frames
Hey friends! I wanted to share this fun little DIY with y’all! My mom found these beautiful yard-long photos of my great grandparents and she so graciously let me “borrow” them to display in my home. My Great Grandpa Dewey 1928 My Great Grandma Mae 1947 I love these old photographs and I’m so excited to share them and how I decided to frame them. Obviously they are not a standard size. The smaller print is 7×16 (inches) and the larger is 8×28 (inches). I decided I wanted the images to have a completed look of being in a mat within the frame. I headed to my local craft store…
